Farm Questions

  • Oralife cheese products are made with fresh milk from local dairy farms in the state of Wisconsin.

  • The cows that provide the fresh milk live comfortably and are cared for by family dairy farms. The cows even have “health care” as dietitians carefully balance the cows’ diets for optimal health.

  • Oralife cows have access to grazing pastures and fresh water 24 hours a day. Grazing on grass accounts for more than 50% of the cows diet, the remaining food being leaves and stems of corn, wheat, and oats.

  • Oralife cows are not given antibiotics or growth hormones.

  • Oralife farms are family-run farms that operate as a co-operative, ensuring high-quality milk production while also promoting sustainable farming practices.

Storage Questions

  • In most cases, Oralife cheese products will be fine to eat for a few weeks after “Best By Date” as long as the cheese has been properly refrigerated. If there is any visible discoloration or unpleasant smell, then please do not eat.

  • Oralife cheeses are best stored in refrigeration at around 35 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius). Cheese should also be stored inside of a plastic bag or container such that it does not dry out or absorb other food flavors from inside of the refrigerator.

  • The “Best By Date” on Oralife cheese indicates when the cheese will have the best flavor and/or quality.

  • Taking Oralife cheeses with you on-the-go is one of Oralife’s advantages: our snack-friendly packaging can comfortably fit into a lunchbox, backpack, or even your pockets! For extended travel, be sure to place the cheese next to a cold-pack or other refrigerated items to ensure that the cheese is cool and fresh when you decide to enjoy it.

  • Our cheeses are made by separating the whey from the curds. This is done by gently heating the milk and adding cultures such as bacteria or rennet to make the milk curdle. Once the curd hardens, it is cut into portions to release whey. Next, the curd can be heated and/or stacked again to expel more whey. Salt is added before the curd is put into a mold, where the curd is pressed to get a uniform texture. The cheese is then aged for a period of time until it reaches optimal texture.
